Tastings on Hastings returns to Port Macquarie’s Town Centre on Sunday, 26th October, 2014 from 9am until 4pm, where last year it hosted more than 100 exhibitors and welcomed more than 15,000 patrons.
Born from the Hastings Farmers Markets the event’s core aim is to celebrate the farming, fresh produce, gourmet produce, wines, beers, chefs, restaurants and cafes of the Hastings region.
This year we have opened our boundaries for vendor applications that fall within our locavore boundary of 160km radius. This encompasses everything from, Woolgoolga in the north to Armidale in the west and Nelsons Bay to our south.
Our theme for 2014 is Our Story, Our Soul, Our Food which aims to embrace and celebrate the multicultural influences within our community, as we hail our heritage and what has influenced our individual cooking styles to make us the region we are today.
We are thrilled to welcome celebrity chef Peter Kuruvita, renowned chef from Flying Fish restaurants and cooking shows such as ‘My Sri Lanka’, ‘Island Feast’ and his latest series on SBS ‘Mexican Fiesta’. Peter will host a Tastings Dinner on Saturday 25th October at The Fig Restaurant and will hold two cooking demonstrations during the main event on Sunday 26th.
Entry fee is $2 with children under 10 free.
This year we welcome the ‘Makers Market’ to the Tastings event as we aspire to involve all tastes from our region.
For the convenience of our patrons the Tastings event will be separated into six main areas:
