Satellite Events

As part of our Tastings on Hastings festivities for 2017, we are thrilled to be incorporating a range of satellite events. These events promote the best of our region by taking people to the source of our fabulous foodies.

From exquisite fine dining to day-tripping around our region’s farm gates and wineries, our satellite events will leave your taste-buds tingling. We’ve rounded up all of our favourite foodies and put together a schedule full of our region’s very best.

THURSDAY

Gastronomy Pub Dinner with Public House Management Group Executive Chef Ben Varela

Journey through a four-course meal with accompanying drinks showcasing Sydney’s latest pub food trends. Ben Varela as Executive Chef for Public House Management Group helps create the Pub food trends in Sydney. Overseeing a diverse portfolio of pubs and restaurants, including the one hatted Bistro Moncur, Ben’s team deliver over 15,000 meals each and every week.

Foragers Dinner

The Whalebone Wharf

Take your tastebuds on a spectacular culinary journey whilst basking in the majestic views of the Hastings River. Newly renovated Whalebone Wharf welcomes you to a night hosted by hatted Executive Chef Peter Ridland, formerly of Jonah’s Whale Beach. Peter and his team of chefs will be foraging produce from the local area and incorporating these ingredients into each course highlighting what the bountiful land and waters of the Hastings has on offer. An experience not to be missed.

FRIDAY

Perfect Pairings Tour 

Enjoy an afternoon of local food and wine matching topped off with a sunset cruise along the Hastings River.

Little Fish Café, Restaurant & Vineyard 

 

Visit one of our region’s most quaint vineyards and enjoy free wine tastings between the hours of 10am and 4pm on Friday 27 and Sunday 28 on the Tastings weekend. Enjoy a Hastings Tastings Platter that includes a selection of tasty local produce and a bottle of Little Fish Wine among the vines. Please note Little Fish will be closed Saturday 28 October.

Local Beer & Tapas Degustation

Five local beers including beers from Black Duck Brewery, Wicked Elf, Bucket Brewery and Moore Beer Brewing Co. will be matched with five delicious tapas dishes. 

This event will bring together a very passionate local brewing community and explore the flavours and varietals of each brewery. Latin Loafer is renowned for its tasty tapas menu and hip, riverside setting.

Celebrate Local: A Seafood Feast

 

 

 

 

 


Be our guest as we host a culinary Seafood Experience at Bill’s 
Fishhouse to celebrate all this great region has to offer as part of the 2017 Tastings on Hastings. The evening will include a bespoke seafood feast especially curated by our talented Head Chef Dominic Smith. Locally Made, Internationally Inspired Dinner 

The Stunned Mullet

Using bountiful local produce The Stunned Mullet will take you on a culinary journey that is a homage to both our amazing region and the iconic dishes of world class chefs from London to NYC. The team have put their heads together and named the chefs and dishes that have inspired them both personally and professionally. They have managed to borrow these magical recipes to be re interpreted with Mullet magic. Indulge your senses with an incredible tasting menu, enhanced by perfectly matching beers and wines. Wauchope Farmers Markets

Wauchope Showground

Join Matt Golinksi as he meets some of our growers, makers and bakers at the Wauchope Farmers Markets.

A coffee roasting experience combined with a local oyster farm tour, boutique vineyard visit and gourmet picnic lunch.

Drury Lane

Come together under the leopard trees in the Drury Lane courtyard where you will enjoy a feast of Drury Lane flavours highlighting the seasonal local heroes we love to use every day. Near River Produce, Bellingen Smokehouse and Ewetopia Farm to name a few as well as our backyard farmers who regularly contribute to making our food ever-changing and ever-surprising. This event is BYO and family friendly.

Hastings Hidden Gems Tour

A local foodie experience incorporating a boutique vineyard visit, wine and chocolate pairings and a leisurely long lunch.

Meals in the Fields

Two hatted Chefs from Sydney will showcase this region’s best produce in the fields at Near River Produce. This outdoor paddock to plate experience is a culinary event not to be missed. This popular event sells out quickly, so be sure to book your tickets soon.
