Visit Maroochydore-Sunshine Coast

Maroochydore, known as the Sunshine Coast’s pulsating heart, is where you can enjoy an ocean swim during the day and a martini at night.

There is something for everyone, from the family-friendly beachside suburb of Cotton Tree, which is a favourite spot for a picnic or Barbeque and is filled with huge natural cotton trees, to the surfing hotspot.

Take a walk along the beautiful coastline walk that runs from Cotton Tree to Alexandra Headland and take it all in.

Enjoy jet skiing or boating while you’re at Maroochydore. If you need training, Licence to Boat, Qld -BoatSafe approved Recreational Boat (RMDL) and Jet Ski (PWC) Licence classes in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast are the place to go.

Maroochydore attractions

Nature’s walk

Maroochydore, like the rest of the Sunshine Coast, is a refuge for natural beauty and outdoor adventure. Explore the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens while SUPing on the Maroochy River or in the tranquil waters of Cotton Tree. View the wide ocean from above with Paradise Seaplanes, or cruise the Maroochy River with Cruise Maroochy and get up and personal with aquatic life.

A regional delicacy

Coastal Avenue in Maroochydore is a local hotspot dotted with restaurants, pubs, and live music venues providing cuisine inspired by the region’s fresh vegetables. If you’re looking for something a little more upscale, Ebb Waterfront Dining & Cellar offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience with Pacific Ocean views. This area of the coast also has a variety of surf clubs, including Maroochydore Surf Club, where you can have a reasonably priced dinner at Flags Bistro, or Alexandra Headland Surf Club, which offers all-day eating and live music on weekends.

The Best Beers

If you enjoy craft beer, head over to Sunshine Brewery, a microbrewery with a variety of rotating taps serving their tasty on-site-brewed brews. You may meet the brewer and try some excellent beers. If you’re not driving, the 7% ‘Double Sunshine’ brew with delicious passionfruit and grapefruit flavours is a good choice. Fans of stouts will like a glass of ‘Sunshine Jaffa,’ an oatmeal stout with coffee notes and chocolate orange bursts. Up, up, and away!

A broad range of sports, musical, and cultural events take place on the Sunshine Coast, showcasing the region’s diversity. There’s something for everyone with year-round markets, music festivals, and community activities. The Ocean Street World Festival (April) is a well-known festival of world music and delectable cuisine from local food trucks and restaurants. The Maroochydore Music and Visual Arts Festival (August) attracts music fans from all around Australia and offers prominent artists from the arts and entertainment sector. Head to ‘Nights on Ocean,’ a food market hosted on the second Friday of each month, for something local and low-key. For the most up-to-date event information, visit our What’s On page.
